I know that many people think professional organizers have all the organizing answers, and although we usually do have some great ideas, I am always impressed with our clients and friends, who often find innovative solutions of their own. Here are some ideas that they have implemented:
- Laminating kids’ art to use as bookmarks. One client had her children help her select some of their favorite artwork, and then cut designs out of them to laminate and then use for bookmarks. I wouldn’t necessarily encourage running out to buy a laminator if it’s not useful to you, but maybe you have a friend or local resource that could help you out.
- Cords, cords, cords…the bane of many visual people’s existence. There are plenty of solutions to cover them up (some more elaborate than others), and one of my friends utilized them to cover up her phone/answering machine cords so at least they blend in more with the surroundings. Here are some great solutions –
- Murphy beds have enjoyed a recent upswing (get it?!) to utilize small spaces or give a guest room multiple uses. A friend told me about ones she had seen that folded into a dresser, and I thought that was a terrific standalone idea instead of having to install one.
- I hope you find these helpful!
