No matter how well I’ve organized myself, I’m still stuck with the same 24 hours in a day I’ve always had. I can’t manage a day into 25 hours, but I can manage how I spend those 24.
Keep a Simple Log
This is the first step I take whenever I feel squeezed from all directions. For a week or two, take 5-10 minutes at the end of each day to write down how you spent the hours of your day.
Over time you’ll start to notice patterns in your time management choices.
They say “time is money” and, just like a money budget, before I know if I should cut back or spend more I need to know where my dollars (or hours) are going.
When I have the information in front of me in black and white I can evaluate my choices and begin to create a time budget that is in line with what’s most important to me.
